I have Welsh Harlequin Ducks that I got as fertile eggs and hatched in an incubator. These ducks know me and come waddling as fast as their legs will carry them, whenever they see me. They call to me in loud quacks if I don’t come and give them a couple minutes of attention when I am in the backyard, or if they see me at a window. 

They come to one of my windows and knock on the glass. Yes, I open the window and give them treats. These are tame ducks that know me. 

So, was I surprised when I got a new housecoat for Christmas that was a plaid red color that they absolutely can not see past. They ran in terror to their duck coop and to the very back of their duck house. I went out, calling to them and talking gently. Nope, they were NOT coming out. So, I would have to think that colors do matter to some animals. They sure do to these ducks of mine. If I am going to let them out in the yard early, I need to change my housecoat to the more subdued light lilac one.
